Privacy Policy
Last updated October 8, 2026. This is a plain-language summary of how this site treats your information.
What you can do without giving us anything
You can read every issue and visit every page without logging in or giving any details.
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter notices. If you subscribe we keep your email address, the date and time you confirmed, the internet address (IP) you signed up from, and, if you arrived through a link or QR code, which one. We use these only to send you a short notice when a new issue is posted, and to show that you asked to be on the list. We never add anyone without their confirmation, and we never buy or import lists.
- Unsubscribing. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we never email you again by mistake, together with the reason you chose, if you gave one. If you subscribe again later, you are removed from that list.
- Contact form. Your name, email and message are used only to reply to you. They are not shared and not used for anything else without your permission.
- Sponsors. Sponsors give a business name, email, website and banner. Payment is handled by Stripe; we do not see or store card numbers. Sponsors are also subscribed to the newsletter notices (see the Sponsor Terms), and can unsubscribe from those at any time.
- Visit statistics. We count how many times each issue is viewed or downloaded, and how often each sponsor banner is shown and clicked. These counts are not tied to you.
- Security. To prevent abuse we briefly record your IP address with form submissions and login attempts, and the forms use an anti-spam picture check that sets no tracking cookies.
Cookies
We use one small session cookie that keeps forms safe from forgery and remembers that you are in the middle of a task (for example, the sponsor slideshow). It is removed when you close your browser. We use no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.
Who sees your information
Only the site's administrators. We do not sell or rent it. It is shared only with the services that deliver the site and its email (our web host and email provider), with Stripe for sponsor payments, and where the law requires.
The Trend$ page shows public economic data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED). Your browser does not contact FRED when you view that page; the site stores the figures itself.
How long we keep it
Subscriber details are kept while you are subscribed. Suppression-list entries are kept so you are not emailed again. Contact messages are deleted when they are no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of every email, in one step.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you: paul@paulkruger.us.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Sponsors are told by email about changes that affect them.
